A year of tees
Keith Walsh: “I’ve had an interest in t-shirt graphics since ever my favourite Goonies t-shirt got washed to a grey rag. In 2010 I took this interest to a new level when I designed one t-shirt every day for a year. A year of tees started after a few beers with me stating that designing one t-shirt every week would be an interesting project. A few beers later and this became a bet that I couldn’t design one t-shirt every day for a year. Every day during 2010 I designed a t-shirt, uploaded it, tweeted it, facebooked it, answered blog requests, did a pechakucha, and printed the t-shirts on demand.
I had no idea what a mammoth and fun project it would be. Would I do it again? I’m not sure. But it was worth the effort, and it did result in thousands of sales, the project featured on blogs including brainpicker, and it’s nice that, and the t-shirts were sold in Topshop and Hmv.
It seemed like a good idea at the time.”
